My life as an auditor is a structured one. Although no visit is really the same, the process of booking with a location and following the audit with the featured member of staff is structured. I am my own boss - as long as I get the work done by the deadlines, I can please myself as to when I work.

To give you an idea of what it’s like this is what I did yesterday:

7:30AM Make sure all tech is fully charged and connected in order to use the audit webpage. I have spent half an hour reading the brief the night before, so I know exactly what I am doing.

8.00AM Dress professionally and make sure I have my accreditation letter with me and leave my house. My appointment was pre-booked 5 days in advance, they will be waiting for me so don’t dilly-dally.

9.00AM Arrive at the job. Announce my presence to the service manager and show the dealership my accreditation letter. Explain I may need to ask questions to score some criteria and are required to grade independently and cannot discuss results. Easy peasy!

9:10AM Connect to the Internet asking the dealer if I can use their WIFI if signal is poor, an important step to conduct the audit.

9.15AM Act respectfully, professionally and polity at all times asking questions where required to gain all information required.

10.20AM Taking time with providing photos and asking questions, this proof is essential to ensure a successful audit. I take photos and check the quality before uploading to the audit app. I ask the service manager any questions needed based on the audit criteria.

11.45PM Review the photo guide regularly to help support during the audit, the photos need to be exact to ensure the audit is smooth.

2:30PM The audit is complete double check I have captured all required photos on the report. If needed, I take extra pictures to be sure.

2:45PM Submit the report and notify the Service Manager. I leave the premises and head to my vehicle.

3.00PM Time to head home and back to my own sofa!

4.00PM Homesweet home! I still have some work to do as I have to upload all information required from today to the mystery shopping company I work for.
