Last week we celebrated Mental Health Awareness Week supporting WightAID with a full week of activities and treats for the team! The theme of the week this year was movement, so we encouraged everyone to get out walking on breaks and taking walking meetings. We used the Strava app to record our journeys that we share together on our PiP group!
To kick off the week, on Monday we created some handmade bracelets for our friends or loved ones. Next, we had our lovely resident yoga instructor Susan, from Lotus Tree Yoga, lead some guided movement yoga sessions. Each lunchtime we popped open the popcorn and kicked back to watch a selection of different comedy films. Later in the week we opened our easel’s and embraced our inner Picasso with some creative canvas painting in the staff room.
To break up the week we made the most of the sunny weather and took the PiP doggo’s for a walk down to appley beach for a run around. There was also some burnt rubber on Rainbow Roads with shells flying everywhere in our super competitive Mario Kart competition!
To recognise and raise money for MHA week, we all wore something green on Friday. We then hosted a tombola and cake sale in the morning, later followed up with a live Performance in People Pub style quiz.
We had some very generous donations from some of our local heroes all helping us support WightAID! Including a West Wight Alpacas voucher, 18 holes at Westridge golf course, a selection of Wight Label Tea and Coffee, Afternoon tea for two at Busy Bee’s, £50 of Rocket Ronnies vouchers, and Lunch for two at French Franks. Along with plenty of donations of beauty products, family games homeware, kitchen gadgets and bottles of fizz from staff!
We want to say a massive thank you to all the people who supported us throughout the week for such an important cause improving the lives of all people living on the Isle of Wight.
